The WA Wine & Food Festival was held in Perth on July sixth, seventh and eighth in the year 2007. The major aim of the festival was to encourage the common people to come and participate in the festival and taste and purchase some of the best natural produces and premium wines of Western Australia. Around two hundred and forty food and wine companies participated in the WA Wine & Food Festival. “Buy WA Food First”, a campaign by the department of agriculture was launched at the festival.
The food and beverage companies who participated in the festival were registered under the new “Buy WA Food First” brand. The food, wine and beverage companies who have their food and products made in Western Australia can authorize under the “Buy WA Food First” brand.
Buy WA Food First Tasting Plate was a unique venture initiated in this iconic fest. The exhibitors who hosted three thousand plates were given some discounts and pass. This was done to encourage more producers participate in the festival and enhance the popularity of foods in Western Australia. Some of the best chefs and cooking demonstrators of Perth delivered their valuable lectures and recipes and cuisines.
The wine organizers of WA Wine & Food Festival inspired visitors to taste and explore wines of various flavors. 23% of the revenues in Western Australia come from the wineries. Over eight hundred varieties of wines were displayed in the exhibition. Visitors had the choice to buy wines directly or through the mail order system of the wineries for parcel. The WA Brewers Association exhibited fifteen boutique brewer stalls in the exhibition. Majority of the wines and beers were exclusive and not commonly found in Perth.
Visitors arriving at WA Wine & Food Festival take part in the gala food and wine celebration held every year. They enjoy the foods and wines and the more interested ones take part in the educational seminars related to food and wine. Celebrity chefs prepare latest recipes and dishes are offered with sizzling wines. WA Wine & Food Festival will be hosted on the Perth convention Center in July eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth in the coming year (2008).
